our story
First time we met
Our little "romcom" started way back when, with a healthy mix of mutual friends, hookups and young love. We had been in the same school for a while (Gideon High), and this might be quite the surprise but irrespective of the fact that we had mutuals, and I look like....well, me *wink*, we'd never noticed each other until a mutual friend of ours; Prince, introduced us. Since then, it's been memories, love, excitement and a few flights in-between.
Eleven happy years
Picture the excitement of a long distance relationship, now take out the video calls, remove the daily instant messaging, snapchat? forget it! and fall back to phone calls once or twice a month. This was us after Nnamdi had to leave for the UK. After 7 years and a few advances in technology (Thank you Skype!), we had a bitter-sweet reunion in Nigeria, and this was the defining moment in our story; This was the beginning of our forever. We spent the next four years making sure we got a happy ending to our own 'romcom'.
I said Yes!
I'll start by letting you know this: I had wedding plans rolling before I had the bling. Crazy, I know! It was one month to our traditional wedding and Nnamdi was visiting, and right in the middle of our "I dey check you out" moment (it's a thing we do, lol), in the goofiest way, he goes down on one knee, and says 'Nkiru, will you marry me?" The feeling was indescribable, and after 11 years, we finally get to share this moment ...with you.
